“And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.”

These verses capture a moment of tension between undeniable truth and hardened unbelief. After Jesus healed a man who had been blind from birth, the religious leaders refused to accept the miracle at face value. Instead of rejoicing, they interrogated — not only the man but also his parents — hoping to discredit the work of Christ.
Their question, “Is this your son, who ye say was born blind?”, exposes both doubt and denial. The Pharisees weren’t seeking truth; they were seeking control. The miracle challenged their authority, forcing them to confront a power greater than their traditions. By questioning the facts, they tried to cast shadows over the light Jesus had revealed.
The parents’ response, however, is simple and powerful: “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.” In those few words, they affirm two unshakable truths — the identity of their son and the reality of his former blindness. What had changed could not be explained by logic or dismissed by skepticism. A miracle had occurred.
This scene is more than an ancient story; it’s a reflection of how the world often responds to God’s work. When His power transforms lives, some celebrate, while others question, analyze, or reject it. Yet truth stands firm — God’s works speak for themselves.
The healing of the blind man was undeniable proof of Jesus’ divinity. No one could open the eyes of one born blind except God Himself. The Pharisees’ disbelief did not diminish the miracle’s reality; it only exposed the hardness of their hearts.
In contrast, the parents’ honest testimony stands as a reminder that truth doesn’t need embellishment — it only needs to be told. Their simple acknowledgment — “We know” — carried more power than the religious arguments of those trying to disprove it.
The same is true today: when God moves, the evidence is clear. Transformation is the loudest testimony.
1️⃣ Truth stands firm amid opposition — The Pharisees tried to question the facts, but they couldn’t undo what Jesus had done. When God performs a miracle, no argument or doubt can erase it. His power doesn’t depend on human approval; it speaks for itself.
2️⃣ Faith always invites questioning — Genuine acts of God often provoke skepticism from those unwilling to believe. Yet questioning never changes truth. It simply reveals who is open to seeing God’s hand and who is blinded by pride.
3️⃣ Testimony is a weapon of truth — The parents’ statement was brief yet powerful: “We know this is our son.” Bearing witness to what we know — to what God has done — is one of the most effective ways to glorify Him. We don’t need perfect answers, only honest testimony.
4️⃣ Spiritual blindness is deeper than physical blindness — The healed man once lived in physical darkness, but the Pharisees lived in spiritual darkness. Even when confronted with light, they chose to remain blind. Refusing to acknowledge truth hardens the heart.
5️⃣ Miracles glorify Christ, not man — The healing pointed not to the power of medicine or human effort but to Jesus Himself. Every miracle is a signpost directing us to the Savior, affirming His authority as the Son of God.

This moment in John 9 is not just about one man’s healing — it’s about the power of truth standing against unbelief. The religious leaders had knowledge of Scripture but lacked faith in the One who fulfilled it. Their hearts resisted what their eyes could not deny.
In contrast, the parents and their son simply stated what they knew. Their testimony carried authority because it was rooted in experience, not argument. This is how God works — He uses ordinary people with extraordinary encounters to reveal His power.
Today, God still calls His people to bear witness to His truth. The world may question, debate, or doubt, but a life changed by Christ cannot be denied. Your story, your transformation, your faith — these are living proofs of His power.
Truth doesn’t need to shout; it simply needs to stand.
